Sony TV IR commands stopped working...

The TV is a Sony 27" KV-27S15.

Nothing was changed and this suddenly happened during the middle of
the night while my wife was up feeding our baby. She changed channels
and suddenly the TV would change the volume level. I don't know about
a power surge or brownout (I was asleep) but we've got a very decent
grade power surge protector on the line as well as a noise filter.

I've tried several remote codes on the ReplayTV remote first before I
grabbed the original Sony remote to try. Changed to the battery on it
as well and no luck.

Also, I've already unplugged the TV for about 15 minutes to try
resetting it but still no response.

I've never heard of this issue before so I'm wondering if I just had a
component failure?

What I really need is a NASA Engineer to hire... <grin>
