i've applied that patch on my laptop here where I run the stuff for  
testing and it made no difference. I haven't applied it to the server  
yet but I do not THINK there is anything in the safari update  
specifically that would cause all the interfaces to fail to connect.  
So give it another restart and verify the serial port names in the  
preferences window and let us know what happens.
