10 Years and I still don't know...

I'm really shocked that X10 has not thought about a 45 degree angle
insert to sell for this!
Most of my motion sensors are near the floor now, completely opposite
of where they started. Once you have cats, you just never know how
naughty they're going to be while you're out of the house (and set off
alarms). So, I've flipped to using the dogs and cats as triggers for
a "more lived in" look. One of the water bowls is in our bedroom and
the animals migrate back there to drink, I guess because it's quiet
and by itself. As they move through the house the lights come on and
really make the house look like we're home. Even the basement it's
lighted periodically during the night because the litterbox is down
there.
I think I might just go ahead and use the drywall screws as long and
it doesn't look half-assed once I get it done. I'd cut the 2x4 as
suggested but I don't have the proper tools to do this and it would
look like monkeys tried it. Velcro is always my first choice but this
is near the floor and I have a dachshund who is ALWAYS shoving things
with here nose. Just setting the sensor where it is now, on the
floor, or anything that isn't solid and she'll tear it loose. What a
goofball...
I just hope the drywall screws will inset enough to allow the
batteries to be inserted?
Thanks for the ideas!
