What I've done the last couple that I've remounted is to use the 3m  
adhesive strips that are velcro backed for hanging pictures.  I think  
they call them "command adhesive" but they come in velcro pairs now.  
They are really nice! I've been hanging everything with these lately.
I've never yet had one come off the wall except when I wanted it to  
and where I've stuck them they have stayed forever. I've got a 4 year  
old now (or thereabouts) big hook in the bathroom that we hang towels  
on that is up with one of these things and it has stayed rock solid.
