I have some just sitting on the floor, leaning against the base board 
;) They react to my feet when I walk by (what I want), but not when I'm 
moving around the adjacent area (what I don't want). This works in a 
corner.

I've used adhesive backed, heavy duty velcro to mount detectors on 
walls. No screws needed, and it it makes it really easy to take them 
down for battery changing.
