Incandescent Bulbs

Thanks for the input... Yeah... I saw the 1006 year figure too and
thought wow... They read parchment by lightbulb! Where'd the
electricity come from!?

The main issue has been our overhead kitchen light which turns on day
or night when someone walks in that room. It has a glass enclosure
around it which might retain the heat a bit more but this has been the
same way since I moved in. Instead of bulbs lasting a year or two, it
seems to be less than a year now... Perhaps 8 months for the last two
bulbs.

I considered that the batch of bulbs that I purchased may have been
created at a lower quality by design or defect but another room has
made me question things as well. Our Great Room has two end table
lamps that I dim on and off and it seems like one of those lamps wears
out bulbs more frequently than the other. It is closer to the
"action" than the other lamp so vibration might be the culprit as well
but both of these are set to "dim on and off" and stay burning all
evening. It's not like I'm taxing the filament like the kitchen
blasting current through it.

So, my mind started thinking about the modules and perhaps after years
of use, could they be doing something odd behind the scenes via
current. (i.e., letting current through at a low level wen they're
off burning out bulbs.) I usually hear a hum when that's the case so
I just don't know.

Now, I just checked and Amazon has some "Rough Service "bulbs on their
online store fairly cheap. I think it was like $13 for 24 100watt
bulbs (without shipping). I guess that's cheap enough to give them a
try. ;) Something about ordering lightbulbs online instead of just
picking them up at a local store feels weird... heheh

Jp (I'd already be on a plane right now to SFO in a normal year....
sigh)
