Mysterious problems from a new guy

What did you get new for Christmas that plugs into the mains?  New TV 
perhaps, a computer?  Try unplugging it.  If that fixes it, you need 
to get an X10 filter for that appliance that blocks "signal suckers", 
appliances that put filtering on the mains that attenuate the X10 
signals treating them as unwanted noise.
