Recommendations for Room Temperature Sensors

I'm in the process of designing a new house and would like to have the
HVAC automated using XTension.  The system should be flexible enough
to accommodate wireless technology changes, (X10, Z-Wave, etc.).   The
components look like they will include 24-Volt duct dampers, 110-volt
duct fans, temperature sensors for each room, maybe X10/ZWave
thermostats, and a way to interface wired stuff with XTension that
would monitor and control the system.

The first issue is what to use to monitor each room's temperature.
I'm looking for something simple, possibly a hard-wire solution
(1-Wire?) because that won't depend on wireless technology and wiring
will not be a problem.

Has anyone been working with a particular temperature monitoring
solution with X4X that is simple and reliable?
