Hi James,
> and they don't broadcast what's going on
:: That's one reason I haven't been in a rush to adopt WiFi in my
house.
> they aren't "bad" just not as good as you can get for a lot more
money. I'd definitely start out with the X10 cams and see how they
work.
:: That's kinda where my thoughts were headed. Thanks for
confirmation.
> I uploaded some of the time lapse
:: Thanks for the sample.
> this one is the belkin video bus and the output is the fairly small
video that you see there. ... [baluns] ...but that will add $
:: So what other hardware am I going to need to get? "Live" video is
not necessary for me. I want to have 2-3 'human interest' views around
the outside of the house for a web page: maybe refreshed every 10
seconds or so, max. IOW: "How does the wire get 'into' the computer?"
What about multiple cameras?
> It would be nice to have a "last hour" type movie created live all
the time,
:: Yes. <nudge> :-)
> That camera in those movies is through more than 100' of Cat5
:: Encouraging.
> I'll be keeping my eyes open this coming post Christmas sale period
:: The shop I referred to actually stocks this stuff year 'round
because they are in the 'display' business. Their bread and butter is
signs and supplies for window displays, such as oversized stuffed
animals and the like. Try your local directory under 'sign' or
'display' or 'advertisement' and see what looks promising. In my case,
I was in there picking up a real estate sign last April, and their
entire upstairs display floor was chock full of this stuff, as if
Christmas was "only eight shopping months away" :-)
BTW: Some of those domes were high quality acrylic, and maybe up to 24"
across!
Thanks,
John
